Frequently Ask Questions

1. When do I need to call a Licensed Electrician?

In order for an electrical contractor to be allowed to do electrical work they must have liability insurance. This means that if something goes wrong they are covered by that insurance..

2. Why do I need to upgrade my Panel?

After 30-40 years, the internal working of breakers and bus bars deteriorate. People have a tendency to install high amp fuses in fuse panels so they should be changed to breakers.

3. Why is it better to have a dedicated Electric Vehicle charger vs an outlet?

A dedicated vehicle charger will charge the vehicle faster than a plug in unit.

4. Why do I need an electrical permit?

It is an electrical code that any electrical work needs to be inspected. If anything were to happen where the insurance company is involved, it will be an issue if they ask for an electrical certificate.

5. what is the difference between a certified Electrician vs a licensed Electrician?

Certified electricians are individuals employed by Licensed Electrical Contractors and are permitted to perform electrical work as employees of a Licensed Electrical Contractor.

6. Why is it necessary to get a code defect inspection?

Just because it has been working for years doesn't mean it was done by code. Leal Electric has personally seen what homeowners do. Thinking it's good but won't pass an electrical inspection. ESA provided this service in the past but no longer do.

Did you know?

An electrician is not permitted to perform electrical work unless they are employed by a Licensed Electrical Contractor.
